What Does Love Look Like?
First, Let's define Love so we can live it out.

In the American language, the word "Love" has many different meanings with very different levels of intensity. So to better define "Love," we looked to other sources, primarily Greek.

In Greek there are 4 major kinds of Love:

1. Philia:

Friendship Love

 2. Ludus:

Affection between young lovers

3. Eros:

Intense/passionate form of Love

 4. Agape: Unconditional Love for everyone

So as we discuss Love we want to focus on Agape Love.

Agape Love: is a Greco-Christian term referring to love, "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and of man for God."

In other words, Unconditional Love For Everyone.

So, what does that look like you might ask...

WHO?

Should I Love?

EVERYONE!

Friends, Family, Roommates, Coworkers, etc.

And most importantly, our enemies.

It's by Loving enemies that you will have the greatest impact and set yourself apart from others.

WHERE?

Should I Love?

WHEN?

Should I Love?

ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE

YOU ARE!

Wherever your day takes you there is an opportunity to do something out of Love.

When it comes to acts of familial/friendship Love there is no "appropriate" time and place.

ALL THE TIME

We may have busy lives but there's always the CHOICE to be selfless instead of selfish.

And it's going to be those busy times we decide to show Love that we will be remembered for, appreciated for, and have the greatest impact on others.

WHY? and HOW?

Should I Love?

You Should Love...

1. First and foremost, you should Love everyone not because it's expected of you or proper, but rather because it's out of our own desire to do it for the benefit of the other person.

Loving others because it's what is expected is not "true authentic Love." True Love comes from the bottom of our hearts. It's something we WANT TO DO freely and willingly. And often times that desire stems from first being Loved. So not only does Love require us to act on others, but it also requires that we allow others to act on us. We first have to be open to receiving Love.

We Love because it is out of our own hearts that we want to do so. We were all given free will to do as we please, to contribute positively or negatively to our environments. Love is an action we freely decide to initiate, because after all, what would Love be if we didn't have the choice? Would it be just as special?

Now even if you don't believe in free will, there is still a second reason why we should Love.

2. Love is a universal language. It breaks through EVERY barrier you can name or imagine.

You don't have to speak someone's language, be their friend, or even be in front of them to send "a message of Love."

Not to be cliche, but can you think of the one thing that everyone is taught before they reach the age of 5?....

It's the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

And the reason this is universally taught across the United States is because it is something deeply rooted in all of us as humans.

We were ALL created, born and made with the desire to be Loved, to belong and to Love on others.

And because it is something so deeply rooted in each of us, we know how to express it. Sometimes we doubt we know what to do, have the power to do it, or even that we are eligible to Love others because of who we are or what we have done. But the truth is we are all equal in the eyes of Love. We are all eligible. And we all should feel empowered to use what we know best, our skills and talents, to Love on others.

You might enjoy serving so that's how you Love others.

You might be a great musician so you make music to show your Love to others.

You might be an engineer so you build things for others.

You might be the best FIFA player and you Love others by letting them win.

We are all unique individuals with things that make us spectacularly different, and instead of letting the world tell us that those differences make us "weird", we need to embrace what makes us set apart and use it to contribute positively to the world through Loving others.

Love is a selfless act that is only true Love when we do it because it is out of our own free will and we are driven by a desire to elevate others above ourselves. And the beautiful thing about Love and the way it makes us feel is that it has a cyclical nature.

We Love because we were first Loved and burn with a passion to share and demonstrate it to others. Because really, who doesn't like talking about what they are passionate about. So make Love what you are passionate about today.

DON'T overthink it.

It's simple.

Random acts of kindness, no matter how big or small WILL make a difference. You don't even need to go out of your way to make a difference. And the acts will inevitably circle back around to you.

Think about what can happen when we see people and our daily routines differently. Whether the impact is known to us or not it's still making a difference. Here are some ideas:

Consider the following:

1 Person, 3 acts of Love a day produces this:

In just 20 days we can generate 3.5 billion acts of kindness.

In 26 days we can generate 2.5 trillion acts of kindness.

That's 240 acts of kindness recieved by a single person in a day!!

Read more facts here: The Impacts of Kindness

It all may seem cliche but its SO TRUE

If you don't believe us, TRY IT OUT!

So I want to ask you, TODAY, how will you show AGAPE LOVE to someone else?
